Lady Gaga To Sue Over ‘Baby Gaga’ Breast Milk Ice Cream

Lady Gaga may like meat and eggs, but she is not a fan of breast milk ice cream — at least not as long as it’s called Baby Gaga. London ice cream shop The Icecreamists began selling the flavor made from human breast milk (and also vanilla pods and lemon zest) a couple of weeks ago, and yesterday Gaga took legal action against company.
Gaga believes the “deliberately provocative and, to many people, nausea-inducing” product could damage her image. As such, she asks they “change the name of the ice cream to something which is not aurally, visually or conceptually similar to Lady Gaga.” The Icecreamists also allegedly employ a waitress dressed like the pop star to serve Baby Gaga.
This is not the first problem to befall the purveyors of the fairly icky treat. Last week the ice cream was seized by the Westminster Council, who are currently testing the product for signs of infection. The Icecreamists owner Matt O’Connor is not at all pleased:
For Lady Gaga to accuse us of stealing her image is laughable when you consider how much she has borrowed from popular culture to create her look and music. She also seems to have forgotten that since the dawn of time the word gaga has been one of the first discernible phrases to come from a baby’s mouth. This is why we chose the name.
As for her assertion that our product is distasteful, perhaps she should reflect on her blood-spurting performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, or the fact she wears clothes fabricated from the flesh of dead animals. We have applied to register the trademark Baby Gaga and are confident we’ll secure this.
While it’s true that “gaga” is a baby noise, it’s also true that the first thing people now associate with the onomatopoeia is a certain outrageous performer. We also happen to think breast milk ice cream is way weirder than a meat dress, but that’s just us.
