Wat Samkaew is the ancient temple of Chumphon.It was built in the age of King Rama VI.This ancient temple locates in Ban Samkaew Village, Nachaang sub-district,Muang district,Chumphon.
The native believe that the name of the temple is from the Legend of the three gems which was often flying to the sky in the past.It only appeared at night time.A native believe that it’s the sign of three gems in Buddhist belief and It brought the peace to the village.Moreover, there is a discovery of the antiques around the precints of Wat Samkaew.The antiques is about 1,700-2,000 years old.Include the small beads and a ancient metal drum which looks familiar to the one that found in Suratthani.
