I have spent the last ten minutes browsing the excellent website Rate Your Music. The premise of the site, in case you're retarded, is it allows users to review and rate music. What interests me are the lists. It has lists of the best and worst albums organised by decade, year, and all time. The "Best Of All Time" list is pretty predictable. Chuck in some Beatles (though one reviewer gets props for calling them an Oasis rip-off band), Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix (when will people stop pretending they own his albums?), The Who etc. and mix it all around. We've seen it all before. It seems all you need to have top 100 album is wait 40 years and no-one will dare question it (The Rolling Stones blow, pass it on).

How presumptuous that Crazy Frog can release an album of songs called "Crazy Hits" before they're even hits! He just knows they're going to be hits, because if you market something on TV long enough eight year olds will buy it. Furthermore, there is nothing crazy about Crazy Frog. He's just a regular frog who has been smoking too much crack. Instead of buying his album and supporting his $1000 a day habit, we should be helping him help himself. Next musically challenged amphibian to vie for the money of the easily amused - Random Frog. Lyk,

DJ MARK RADCLIFFE nominates Metal Machine Music, by Lou Reed: "I would say William Shatner's album, but that's almost so bad it comes out the other side. Metal Machine Music is not one, but two albums of unlistenable noise, so technically it's twice as bad. I think Lou Reed would be quite proud of it being the worst album ever."

TV PRESENTER JUNE SARPONG nominates Aquarium, by Aqua: "When I was growing up I used to think they were really cool and I bought all their albums, in fact. The next one was called Aquarius. But looking back now this must be the worst thing I've heard."

DJ NORMAN COOK nominates The Mash Up Mix 2006, various artists: "Mash-ups or bootlegs [where DJs construct new tracks from samples] used to be something underground, illegal and naughty. But when they start doing K-tel style compilations, things like that kill the whole genre."
